South County Animal Rescue (SCAR)

Mission

South County Animal Rescue was established to provide rescue and assistance for domestic animals. Our goal is to significantly reduce the homeless population of domestic animals in South County through safe rescue and adoption services, awareness and education. We strive to establish relationships with other rescue agencies and collaborate to save more lives.

The Big Idea

As a volunteer-led animal rescue serving the rural communities of South Monterey County, SCAR strives to build new and enhance existing partnerships to maximize the impact of our work to rescue as many domestic animals as possible. We believe the solution to the overpopulation of unwanted pets is greater access to free and low-cost spay and neuter services. Many of our four-legged friends come to us as community cats and kitten litters, animal shelter pulls and owner pet surrenders. Often times they come with critical medical needs which our loving foster volunteers help with nursing our puppies, kittens, cats and dogs to health until they are ready for their adopted human families. There is strength in unity and together, we will save more lives!

SCAR has always shown compassion for the unwanted and undesirable cats and dogs through their commitment to serving our communities. The work they do is a labor of love. I have seen how SCAR goes above and beyond to give animals a fighting chance at living a good and happy life.
