Access Monterey Peninsula (AMP)

AMP Media enables freedom of expression and communication within our local community. AMP Media is the premier resource for promoting and engaging local government, the public, and community organizations to effectively communicate.

The Big Idea

With their newest project—Bigger is Better, Round 2—AMP Media aims to offer hands-on media experience and education to Monterey County students in grades 11-14. In their new location, AMP—the region’s only nonprofit community broadcasting organization—has more room to hold bigger classes and teach production skills related to the arts and the broadcast industry. Round 2 will engage a community of student storytellers through collaborative and fun lessons that pertain to the real world. Students can also receive college credit toward media arts degrees at participating colleges. AMP hopes to also fund Round 3, which would involve opening their doors not only to students, but to other members of the community looking to further their knowledge of the media arts.

AMP Media helped me win a media arts award last year. I was tasked to create a three-minute promotional video for a documentary I’m helping with and I came to AMP Media for guidance. Everyone there is so easy to work with and very knowledgeable about video production. I learned how to bring my story to life and, ultimately, won an award for my video from one of the trade organizations in my field. I’m really looking forward to working with the talented folks at AMP Media again soon. I have a lot more I want to learn.

We’re In This Together.

Nonprofits are more important that ever in this trying time. Monterey County Gives! was created to support the local nonprofit community's Big Ideas (and programs). And thanks to your participation and generosity, Monterey County Gives! raised over $5.3 million for 163 local nonprofits in 2019.

MCGives! has now raised and contributed over $27 million dollars since its inception ten years ago. That’s astounding. And wonderful.

Look for the 2020 Monterey County Gives! RFP (for applying nonprofits) in the Monterey County Weekly this June/July. Monterey County Gives! 2020 campaign kicks off in early November.

Thank you to all our Partners, Sponsors, nonprofit Board Directors, staff and volunteers — and each of our 4,902 donors. We did it, together.
