We are committed to creating spaces and opportunities for women’s leadership development and economic self-sufficiency.
In ten years Mujeres en Acción has built a powerful grassroots movement led by women transforming their communities from the ground up. Through leadership development, mutual support, capacity building, and weekly mentorship meetings, Mujeres en Acción offers a trusted space where women can raise their voices, heal from shared struggles, build collective solutions, and develop the skills and resources needed for economic mobility.
What sets Mujeres apart is our relational approach. Mujeres acts as a bridge where leaders are not just participants, they are changemakers, sitting at decision-making tables and creating opportunities for women and their families. Your support helps elevate these voices, ensuring that their lived experiences become pathways to economic self-sufficiency and stronger communities.
When women lead, communities thrive. An investment in Mujeres en Acción is an investment in dignity, equity, and long-term community transformation.
Mujeres en Acción is rooted in Salinas but serves women and families throughout Monterey and Santa Cruz County. Our trusted presence, cultural humility, and grassroots leadership make Mujeres a critical bridge between institutions and historically excluded communities. We equip immigrant and working-class women with the skills and confidence to advocate for their families, access resources, and influence local decisions on housing, health, education, and economic equity.
When agencies and policymakers need to engage the community authentically, they turn to Mujeres. When families need a safe space to build leadership and find healing, they come to Mujeres. Without Mujeres, an essential part of the network that links residents to resources, advocacy, and opportunities for change would be diminished.
At first, I didn’t have clear goals, but Mujeres en Acción helped open my mind. I took computer and business classes, and now I’m close to getting my license to start my own farming business. I’ve learned that opportunities do exist, we just don’t always know about them. *translated from Mixteco*
