Art Abilities is dedicated to empowering individuals with intellectual disabilities through creative expression through art, community integration, and financial independence. Our mission is to harness the transformative power of art to enhance the lives of those we serve, fostering personal growth, creative skills, and social inclusion
Art Abilities is dedicated to empowering children and adults with intellectual disabilities through the transformative power of art. Our programs foster creativity, healing, and community integration, providing participants with opportunities to explore their artistic talents.
By offering a supportive and inclusive environment, we help our students achieve financial independence and personal growth, bringing dignity and respect to our special population. Our initiatives enhance the well-being of our students and also promote meaningful inclusion within the broader community. Through art exhibitions, community events, and collaborative projects, we showcase the unique talents of our participants, challenging societal perceptions and celebrating diversity.
Additionally, we support our students in earning money by selling their art and helping them gain recognition as accomplished artists. With a focus on expanding our program to a full-day offering, we aim to further our mission of enriching lives, nurturing creativity, and a sense of belonging for all individuals.
Our adult son, Kelly, has been participating in an Art Abilities program in Pacific Grove since July 2022. He looks forward to his weekly class that provides a warm and welcoming setting conducive to creativity. Being with other artists allows him to freely express himself and know that there are no mistakes in art. How cool is that?!? He is exposed to a variety of new media and tools and is proud and excited to show us what he's created. Art Abilities is such a gift to the community, and we are grateful to Ritika Kumar and her staff who open their hearts to and share their talents with our son and others with special needs.
