Our mission is to inspire and empower the youth of Monterey County to realize their full potential to become responsible, healthy, productive and successful citizens.
Hungry, unhealthy and unsafe children cannot focus on their education. This principle guides the health-focused Big Idea: MCGives! gifts help the Boys & Girls Clubs of Monterey County serve over 100,000 nutritious meals every year, including breakfast, lunch and snacks during spring, summer and fall breaks. The Salinas and Seaside clubs serve fresh local produce, offer fully stocked salad bars and members grow fruits and vegetables in the clubhouse gardens. Beyond nutrition, the club also offers programs that address the physical, mental and social well-being of local children with daily fitness activities, year-round sports leagues, cooking classes and counseling services, and an annual Gang Prevention Summit, which supports positive, nonviolent decision-making. The Clubs themselves also offer a safe place where kids can simply play and have fun.
Sometimes it takes sadness to know happiness, noise to appreciate silence, and absence to value presence. The Boys & Girls Club has given me a home outside of home. I have built strong relationships with Club staff, volunteers and other members. Coming to The Club gives me such a sense of happiness and love, the staff are very caring and the devotion they bring to the members is amazing. The Club has helped me through so much I couldn’t be more grateful. I can proudly say that I am a leader for my community and on the path of being truly happy.
