Breast Cancer Assistance Group of Monterey County (BCAG)

Mission

We want to help other women with this disease (breast cancer) as we would want to be helped ourselves.

The Big Idea

Breast cancer strikes 1 in 8 women in the US per year, including more than 245 women and men of all ages, races, and occupations across Monterey County. Many of our grant recipients rely on hourly wages and tips for their daily living expenses, yet the side effects of breast cancer treatments often require patients to stop working, which may trigger severe financial hardship for their entire family.

The “financial toxicity” caused by long-term cancer treatments; high medical and local living costs; and losses of income are significant stressors to those enduring cancer treatments and the associated side effects. BCAG is here to ease some of that stress by providing financial grants that give local patients “breathing room” while they focus on healing.

A breast cancer diagnosis impacts the entire family. For more than 20 years BCAG has been the only local organization that collaborates with local health care providers and social service agencies to provide financial grants and food assistance that help local breast cancer patients meet their daily financial needs.

The words "thank you" are never enough for the help the Breast Cancer Assistance Group of Monterey County has given me. Fighting the fight, staying strong and positive has been made easier because of organizations such as yours. I hope to one day give in return and help others such as myself. God bless you and thank you from the bottom of my heart!
