Carmel Youth Center

Carmel Youth Center exists to grow future leaders who can change their communities and the world for the better.

The Big Idea

Carmel Youth Center exists to grow future leaders who can change their communities for the better. They’ve been expanding their STEAM (science-technology-engineering-art-math) programming, and are currently working on turning their “garage” into a world-class makers lab, a space with tools to promote creative and collaborative projects. Their students are running out of space, and this new area would provide a lab to put creative thoughts into action and long-term projects, without interfering with the daily activities of sports, eating or fundraising events. Funding for the youth center would help fill the room with the staff, supplies and technology needed to help give the children the opportunity to realize their full potential.

The Carmel Youth Center came to me highly recommended by a close friend, so when the opportunity presented itself for me to enroll my little ones for summer camp, I jumped on it. My three children have not only grown socially, but have flourished thanks to the incredible staff and programming. Through various activities (arts and crafts, free time, performing arts, guest speakers) they were guaranteed a memorable summer experience. Each of my children has a different personality and the staff was able to nurture and cater to them individually, which meant the world to me. As summer draws to a close and the school year approaches, I believe that the time spent here will have given them a renewed self-confidence to reach and achieve their goals.

We’re In This Together.

Nonprofits are more important that ever in this trying time. Monterey County Gives! was created to support the local nonprofit community's Big Ideas (and programs). And thanks to your participation and generosity, Monterey County Gives! raised over $5.3 million for 163 local nonprofits in 2019.

MCGives! has now raised and contributed over $27 million dollars since its inception ten years ago. That’s astounding. And wonderful.

Look for the 2020 Monterey County Gives! RFP (for applying nonprofits) in the Monterey County Weekly this June/July. Monterey County Gives! 2020 campaign kicks off in early November.

Thank you to all our Partners, Sponsors, nonprofit Board Directors, staff and volunteers — and each of our 4,902 donors. We did it, together.
