Chamber Music Monterey Bay

Mission

Chamber Music Monterey Bay exists to preserve the tradition of live classical chamber music performance and to explore creatively the evolution of the art form.

The Big Idea

Chamber Music Monterey Bay’s mission is to share this soulful genre of music with the greater community, providing access to those who wouldn’t normally attend Chamber music performances in hopes that they’ll discover (and love) it. CMMB presents groups that normally play in large concert halls in places like New York and D.C., in a more intimate venue in Carmel. The nonprofit’s Kids Up Front & Free! program provides free admission for audience members 18 and under with seats in the first three rows and discounted tickets for their adult companions. They also bring chamber music to senior living centers at no charge. In its upcoming season, Chamber Music Monterey Bay will bring chamber ensembles to the area including Juilliard String Quartet, Inscape, Horszowski Trio, Escher String Quartet, and St. Lawrence String Quartet with pianist Stephen Prutsman.

I was totally blown away by the artistry, ensemble and execution of the Montrose Trio. Thank you so much for bringing them to town and inviting us to hear them. Brian and I were just humming with energy after hearing them. It’s been way too long since I’ve had the chance to hear chamber music of that level and I have already committed to getting myself, my family and my students to your concerts next year.
