Chamber Music Monterey Bay

Mission

Chamber Music Monterey Bay enriches the cultural life of the community by promoting high-quality chamber music through a world-class concert series and community education programs. Chamber Music Monterey Bay preserves the tradition of live classical chamber music performance and creatively explores the evolution of this art form. Chamber Music Monterey Bay focuses on the European-based tradition of chamber music and its contemporary international expressions.

The Big Idea

To offer the finest chamber music performances to our audiences and to increase the exposure of community youth and adults to this art form, through concerts, outreach and education.

Last season Chamber Music Monterey Bay celebrated its 50th year of presenting high quality concert programs performed by some of the world’s most highly acclaimed chamber music ensembles.
As we move forward, we continue to offer our audience both the best of the traditional repertoire and contemporary works that are a reflection of the world we live in. This year we continue to expand our “Kids Up Front & Free!” and “Visiting Artists Outreach” programs among more diverse Monterey County community groups. Our “Kids Up Front & Free!” program sets aside 48 front-row seats for school children and their adult companions at each concert, and provides free blocks of tickets throughout the concert hall to the “kids and families” of diverse Monterey County community groups (such as the Life Is For Everybody after school program of East Salinas, the City of Marina Recreation and Cultural Services Department’s Marina Youth Arts program, the Salinas Unified High School Migrant Education Program, and Seaside’s Village Project).
