Mission: The Friends of the Salinas Public Library (FOSPL) is a non-profit public benefit organization of volunteers providing financial contributions to the City of Salinas Library System. FOSPL funds programs and purchases not within the library budget. FOSPL also works to create public awareness of and community support for the library and its literacy programs.
Books in the home are essential for preparing children for a lifetime of success, so Friends of the Salinas Public Library’s Big Idea helps families establish their child’s first library. With the Books at Birth Year (BABY) program, families who participate in the Salinas Public Library’s early literacy programs, like Story Times and child-parent playgroups, will be invited to choose six free books throughout their baby’s first year.
"All the services the library has been providing through this pandemic have really been great. The library has been a huge support in our children's education"
- Angela R
