Future Citizens Foundation


Future Citizens Foundation’s mission is to offer young people of Monterey County opportunities for a better future. FCF accomplishes its mission by providing a continuum of services that build on youth character traits and support their growth in becoming Future Citizens that positively contribute to the communities in which they reside. The Future Citizens Foundation operates three distinct programs in support of its mission: The First Tee of Monterey County, the Pay It Forward Scholarship & Mentoring Program, and the Taylor Farms Center for Learning. FCF’s exponential reach has been as a result of the rapport the organization, its board and staff have earned in the community through the character enhancing programming FCF offers.

The Big Idea

Future Citizens Foundation offers young people of Monterey County opportunities for a better future, providing services that build character traits and support growth in becoming future citizens that positively contribute to the communities in which they reside. That happens through the First Tee golf and life skills program, and other offerings for youth that are even more critical during the pandemic as shelter-in-place has limited access to recreation, academic support and social interaction. The foundation has adapted to provide both virtual instruction and a hybrid approach to their annual summer camp; launched Operation Reach Everyone and hosted town halls; and maintained existing programs such as golf and life skills instruction, scholarships, mentoring, academic support, STEAM activities, camps and life exploration and preparation.

My two children come from a single parent household and finding affordable resources has been very stressful. When we moved down the street from the First Tee, it was such a relief that finally a summer camp we could participate in that offered so much more than I could have at my son's age. My younger child, was also welcomed warmly at Wee Swingers. It was at the Taylor Farms Center for Learning building that my son not only learned how to play chess, but he actually enjoyed it and eventually participated in chess tournaments.

We’re In This Together

Nonprofits are more important that ever in this trying time. Monterey County Gives! was created to support the local nonprofit community's Big Ideas (and programs). And thanks to your participation and generosity, Monterey County Gives! raised over $7.8 million for 162 local nonprofits in 2020.

MCGives! has now raised and contributed over $35 million dollars since its inception ten years ago. That’s astounding. And wonderful. Thank you to all our Partners, Sponsors, nonprofit Board Directors, staff and volunteers — and each of our 7,578 donors. We did it, together.

The 2021 Campaign begins November 12.
