Our mission is to build decent, affordable homes and provide home ownership opportunities to qualified families who live and work in Santa Cruz and Monterey Counties.
At Habitat for Humanity Monterey Bay, we believe that everyone deserves a safe, stable, and affordable place to call home. This year in Monterey County, we’re launching a bold new effort: building nine permanently affordable homes within the City of Marina. These homes will be constructed with the help of local volunteers, sweat equity from selected Habitat homeowners, and generous donors. By blending skilled labor with community-powered construction, we keep costs low while building homes that working families can afford to purchase. Your support will help fund critical materials and site infrastructure, ensuring that these homes remain affordable for generations. Together, we can allow more families to stay, grow, and thrive in Monterey County.
Habitat for Humanity Monterey Bay builds affordable homes for working families in Monterey County. Once final County approvals are secured, we will launch a first-time homebuyer program to further support local families and the regional workforce. Our current project in Marina serves low-income households, many of whom work in agriculture, education, and essential services. In one of California’s most expensive regions, affordable homeownership offers lasting stability and financial independence. Homes are built with the help of community volunteers, lowering construction costs and deepening local involvement. We also provide homebuyer education and mortgage assistance to ensure long-term success.
In addition, our ReStore in Seaside sells donated furniture, appliances, and building materials to fund our mission. Construction items are popular, helping residents repair and maintain their homes affordably. These savings strengthen families, support small businesses, and boost the local economy. With support from MCG, we can build a stronger, more affordable future.
Habitat for Humanity didn't just build us a house. They provided us with something invaluable: stability. With an affordable mortgage and the security of a permanent home, I was able to be the mom my children needed. I could attend every therapy appointment, advocate for their educational needs, and simply be present with them.
