Mission

Mission: Educate all children toward becoming conscientious, compassionate, and responsible citizens of the world. Vision: A world of understanding Motto: The world is our home. We will make it better.

The Big Idea

ISM integrates student action into all academic units across all subjects and grades K-8, culminating in all 8th-graders completing service to local nonprofits through Community Projects.

Nonprofits need volunteers. Students need to develop social skills, intercultural competence, global perspectives, and sense of community, caring, and connection. Pairing students with nonprofits as volunteers meets both sets of needs. So our BIG IDEA is to leverage community contributions to ISM through MCGives! to support a community action and service learning curriculum that connects students in service to area nonprofits, building a foundation for lives of service that can change the world.

Guided by its mission to “educate all children toward becoming conscientious, compassionate, and responsible citizens of the world, ISM asks all students in all subjects to translate their learning into action. In primary grades, that action typically takes place at home or in the classroom; in intermediate grades, on campus or in the neighborhood; and in the middle years, out in the community through formal connections with local nonprofits. To culminate their progression from simple action to sophisticated service, 8th graders complete at least 15 hours of service with a community agency of their choice, then present their learning reflections in a Community Project showcase.

I got accepted into Birkerød Gymnasium IB…. I am so excited to be able to continue the International Baccalaureate program in high school. I think that ISM was the best preparation possible for this past year here in Denmark, the next three years in high school, and for the rest of my life! ISM inspires students and opens so many doors!
