Loaves, Fishes & Computers' (LFC) mission is to help individuals and families in our community overcome the digital and economic divides by providing low-to-no-cost computer systems, digital literacy classes, hands-on technology workshops, and technology assistance/computer repair for low-income individuals, families, seniors, veterans, children, people with disabilities and nonprofit organizations, while providing volunteers an encouraging and gratifying place to learn about Computer Science and Information Technology, and, with the help of academic partnering organizations, engage in exciting, new education and career opportunities
The Big Idea
There is a
massive community need for communications, information and educational materials, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic, more than ever before. Just imagine a home with no computer—students cannot access distance learning, adults cannot search for employment, and a sense of isolation can grow without easy access to email and connectivity. In the first five months of shelter-in-place, LFC distributed 1,450 computers, impacting over 7,250 people in Monterey County.
I cannot thank you enough for your generous donation of the Levono flip computer. Words cannot express my gratitude. Your generous gift and benevolence were able to help have access to the world and communicating and making my life a lot easier. You have no idea how hard it has been through this COVID-19 pandemic without working equipment and without a computer. Especially since I’ve been quarantined since the beginning and here it is July. Not only have I had to be quarantined because I have an immune disease which is very serious, I am disabled and this will make my life so much easier. It’s sincere gratitude. I cannot thank you enough.
