Meals on Wheels of the Salinas ValleyDonate
We believe no senior should go hungry so we deliver meals to the homes of people, 60 and older, who can no longer shop or cook for themselves. Our nutritious, frozen meals, delivered throughout the Salinas Valley by caring staff and volunteers, improve the health and well-being of seniors who are homebound and help them remain in their homes and maintain their independence.
The Big Idea
Collaborate with local vendors, agencies, and other relevant parties to continue increasing the quality and freshness of the main meals we deliver to our senior, home-bound clients.
We’ve been providing home-delivered meals and a weekly wellness check to vulnerable seniors for over forty-five years without having a waiting list for our service. In this next fiscal year, our focus will be on either replacing, or substantially supplementing the frozen, main-meals we currently deliver to our clients. We’ll continue to reach out to local agencies, in an effort to utilize their commercial kitchens and incorporate their products into our meal delivery service. Our goal is to provide fresh meals within the parameters of our current budget. In the past 2 years, we’ve greatly enhanced our service by reaching out to the Food Bank for Monterey County and becoming a Recipient Agency. We will continue to deliver nutritious food to our clients in addition to a much-needed wellness check to them. Enhancing our already nutritious and essential service with more local and fresh foods will continue to increase the quality of the service we provide to almost 400 unduplicated seniors throughout the Salinas Valley annually.
