Meals on Wheels of the Salinas Valley

We believe no senior should go hungry so we deliver nutritious meals to the homes of seniors throughout the Salinas Valley who can no longer shop or cook for themselves.

The Big Idea

Meals on Wheels of the Salinas Valley has been providing nutritious meals to homebound seniors for over 46 years. We continue to braid our vital service of home-delivered meals with other community-based organizations to enhance the lives of our clients. We've worked with the SPCA for over 20 years and continue to provide PetMeals to their cherished pets. In 2015, we started to work with Food Bank for Monterey County to bring fresh, local fruits and vegetables to our clients. In 2016-2017, we worked with Monterey County Free Library to offer our clients free books and books on tapes delivered to their doors. Recently, we collaborated with Loaves, Fishes and Computers to provide refurbished computers to our clients to help them stay connected. We think our clients would appreciate some nourishment for their soul. We'll reach out to the Arts Council and similar organizations to explore ways to enhance our client’s lives with poetry, music, drawings, theater and other forms of creative expression from the vibrant art scene of Monterey County.
