Monterey County Agricultural & Rural Life Museum

Mission

The Monterey County Agricultural & Rural Life Museum (MCARLM) celebrates the past, present and future of Salinas Valley agriculture and rural life by interpreting authentic objects, providing exceptional programs and building community connections.

The Big Idea

Life has changed for everybody since Covid-19 began, including Monterey County’s teenagers. Monterey County Agricultural & Rural Life Museum is giving high school interns a new sense of direction by having them film a docu-series on the pandemic’s effects. Teens in Quarantine will follow local teens for one year and document how Covid-19 and shelter-in-place guidelines are impacting their lives, addressing topics ranging from how they attend school to how they socialize and connect with their families. There is loss, but also an amazing response from the community to support and lift up young adults.

I have become a better, well-rounded young lady due to the countless benefits my internship with the Agricultural & Rural Life Museum has offered me. Thank you.

We’re In This Together

Nonprofits are more important that ever in this trying time. Monterey County Gives! was created to support the local nonprofit community's Big Ideas (and programs). And thanks to your participation and generosity, Monterey County Gives! raised over $5.3 million for 163 local nonprofits in 2019.

MCGives! has now raised and contributed over $27 million dollars since its inception ten years ago. That’s astounding. And wonderful. Thank you to all our Partners, Sponsors, nonprofit Board Directors, staff and volunteers — and each of our 4,902 donors. We did it, together.

The 2020 Campaign begins November 12.
