To engage, educate and excite our community through the performance and continual discovery of symphonic music.
During the upcoming season, the Monterey Symphony will present OVATION: eight Monday morning youth concerts, tailored to students in grades 3 through 8, aligned with curriculum standards for exposure to the arts. The nonprofit reaches 10,000 students this way, and for younger preschool age kids, their MY Museum concerts create a gateway to classical music. The youth concerts are the culminating activity of a three-part program that also includes curriculum development materials and in-class visits and demonstrations. There is music, but also class demonstrations on concert etiquette and lessons on instrument identification.
Early exposure to the arts is significant and important for students, especially since the majority of our students would not be attending arts events of such a caliber without our assistance. But now I’m also thinking about sending specific groups of high school and/or middle school musicians. Thank you so very much for introducing our students to this world!
