Orchestra In The Schools

Mission

Mission statement: "Inspire success for all children through music." The vision of Orchestra in the Schools is to cultivate the joy of musical expression. We are creating opportunities for young musicians to build confidence through the rigor and cooperation required to produce music together. OITS envisions these young students becoming responsible adults who appreciate artistic beauty in all aspects of life. We are passionate about the need for children to use both sides of their brains. Participating and enjoying organized activity that requires attention, cooperation, practice and dedication gives personal success and self-confidence. Our goal is to create healthy citizens for our communities.

The Big Idea

The vision of Orchestra in the Schools is to cultivate the joy of musical expression. The non-profit creates opportunities for young musicians to build confidence through the rigor and cooperation required to produce music together. Orchestra in the Schools envisions these young students becoming responsible adults who appreciate artistic beauty in all aspects of life. They aim to remain flexible in uncertain times and continue to provide access so students can enjoy all the benefits of a quality music education. With Covid-19 restrictions, they are now establishing an online community for musicians that will provide access to private lessons adhering to defined musical standards while continuing collaborative opportunities. The goal is to create a useful online tool that can continue to serve teachers and students even after shelter-in-place is over.

Thank you so much for all your continued support of our community’s children. We homeschooled our boys up until they started attending Monterey Peninsula College. They both experienced a rich musical environment and, due to Orchestra in the Schools, they both graduated into Youth Music Monterey and the Honors Orchestra, then into the concert band at MPC. You’re sending a great message and we thank you for your musical leadership in our community!
