UnChained fosters empathy, respect, and responsibility in youth through the human-animal bond.

The Big Idea

UnChained uses the natural power of the human-animal bond to help under-served youth learn care, patience and responsibility. For 10 years, UnChained’s eight-week program, Canines Teaching Compassion, has been the vehicle for these transformations. To broaden the impact and deepen the reach, UnChained is piloting a 32-week program with Rancho Cielo to build a learning community for Monterey County youth through dog training, canine-themed curriculum topics and community service learning projects. This learning community will enable youth to share and learn from each other, improving relationships for youth and dogs.

I love helping my UnChained dog and seeing his successes. He helps me learn to work with other people and believe in myself. My dog is like me… but in a dog way!
