Regenerative California

Mission

Regenerative California partners with communities to deliver solutions—in Monterey County that means more housing, a thriving ocean economy, and healthier food systems. Regenerative California is roots in the ground, showcasing what is possible with a regenerative farm. Through regenerative agriculture practices, we can increase biodiversity, improve nutrition, and champion a healthier, more resilient food system.

The Big Idea

Regenerative California is advancing a regenerative economy—one that restores ecosystems, uplifts communities, and builds lasting resilience for people and planet. Our mission is to activate place-based, community-led solutions that tackle California’s pressing challenges, including natural disasters, growing inequality, and fragile food and housing systems.
A cornerstone of our work is a 68-acre regenerative farm in Salinas. This bold living laboratory demonstrates how regenerative practices restore soil health, enhance biodiversity, supports small to mid-sized farmers, and reconnect communities to their food and land.
With your support, we will expand this impact by building a vibrant roadside farm at Highway 68 and River Road, hosting seasonal harvest events, sharing information through workshops and tours, expanding our work with schools, purchasing native plants, and supporting small-scale farmers through long-term leases.
Together, we can show that regenerative agriculture is not only viable—it’s vital for Monterey County’s just, healthy, and resilient future.

How does your organization benefit Monterey County?

Regenerative California’s 68-acre farm in Salinas serves as a powerful local model to revitalize Monterey County’s agricultural landscape. By practicing sustainable, climate-resilient farming, we restore soil health, increase biodiversity, and grow nutrient-dense foods, in the Salinas Valley.
Our work supports small and mid-sized regional farmers through collaborative projects like a joint farmstand, long-term leases, and professional development opportunities. Partnering with conservation groups, we showcase how agriculture and environmental stewardship can coexist, by planting pollinator habitat in the non-field spaces and boosting soil carbon sequestration through cover crops and compost.
By being a space demonstrating regenerative practices, we hope to influence policy and industrial farming practices.. Ultimately, we aim to create a farm that supports a resilient, equitable food system supporting farmers, protecting natural resources, and inspiring regenerative agriculture throughout the region.

We are grateful to Regenerative California for the extraordinary work that they are doing. Thanks to them we are able to access organic agricultural land in the Salinas Valley. Thanks for giving us the opportunity, as small farmers, to grow our organic agricultural business. Without the help of Regenerative California it wouldn’t have been possible for us to progress to more acres outside of ALBA. We now have confidence to grow our businesses.
