RotaCare Monterey Clinic is a volunteer-driven provider of free healthcare services to uninsured residents of Monterey County. Our patients are vital members of the community and local workforce who are vulnerable to healthcare disparities because they do not receive employer-sponsored health benefits and are ineligible for government-sponsored insurance. Our outstanding team of volunteers includes licensed medical providers (doctors, nurse practitioners and physician assistants), nurses, physical therapists, dietitians, clerical staff, Spanish interpreters, a clinical pharmacist, and a stress counselor. Patients with urgent and chronic conditions (e.g. diabetes, hypertension, and kidney disease) receive free telehealth and in-person visits, diagnostic testing through the generous support of Community Hospital of Monterey Peninsula, as well as medication management, diabetic supplies and monitoring, blood pressure monitors, weight scales, pedometers, physical therapy, nutrition education, and specialty referrals, all at no cost. Our goal is to prevent hardship and improve lives through equitable access to high-quality healthcare.
For over 30 years, RotaCare Monterey Clinic has remained an essential safety net for Monterey County, offering free medical care to uninsured residents in our community. Our patients are vital members of the community and local work force who are ineligible for Medi-Cal, Medicare, or Covered California and do not receive employer-sponsored healthcare. This population is vulnerable to disparities in healthcare, and these patients often delay seeking medical care to avoid loss of income or potential termination of employment. With the generous support of our many community partners, RotaCare Monterey Clinic provides a comprehensive healthcare program to keep our patients healthy and productive by preventing potential complications that could devastate their well-being and economic viability.
I didn’t have insurance and Seaside Family Health Center referred me to RotaCare many years ago. I am a diabetic and RotaCare has helped me with my medications, appointments, labs and supplies. The team at RotaCare have been very helpful. Dr. Thompson has been my doctor and makes sure that my health is taken care of and he is very kind and patient with me. He makes sure that I have my labs done regularly and that my diabetes is controlled. He has also referred me to physical therapy. I am very thankful because if it wasn’t for RotaCare I would not be able to see a doctor. I have shared with my friends and family where I go to for care. I am grateful for all of the RotaCare team and all they do for the patients and the kindness they provide for patients like me.
