Siembra Latinos Fund

To inspire philanthropy and cultivate strong and vibrant Latino communities in Monterey County.

The Big Idea

Siembra Latinos Fund: Cultivating Healthy, Safe and Engaged Latino Communities in Monterey County.

The Siembra Latinos Fund was created by a group of local Latino leaders to empower the Latino community. Siembra means “to sow” and the goal is to grow opportunities for Latino residents by inspiring philanthropy and guiding community grantmaking. In its first year the fund made grants to art, music, youth, literacy, health and leadership programs throughout the county.

A local advisory board provides oversight, recommends grants and raises funds to support local nonprofit organizations serving the Latino community. We are growing a permanent endowment to make grants now and in the future.

The Siembra Latinos Fund is a field of interest fund of the Community Foundation for Monterey County and one of ten members of the National Latino Funds Alliance.
