The Service Learning Institute fosters and promotes social justice by connecting students, faculty, and staff with the surrounding tri-county community.

The Big Idea

We are one program within the nationally recognized, award-winning service learning program through the CSUMB Service Learning Institute. Every CSUMB student serves in the community while learning about social justice, diversity, and civic responsibility. The Service Learning Student Leaders are peer educators who share their passion for community work with their peers in the classroom and in the community.

With your help student leaders will put together a dynamic and engaging presentation that will bring the CSUMB spirit to regional elementary schools. Representation matters. Our goal is to create a bridge between children and college students to greater sense of belonging, encouragement, and build college knowledge.

Your contributions will have a profound impact, nurturing the growth of our SL2s and enhancing their ability to lead and inspire others through service. Together, we can ensure that our student leaders inspire our youngest community members to pursue their dreams.

One of the things I have appreciated most about Jissel is how confident, competent, and well-rounded she is. From her communication skills, to her initiative, to her technical skills, to her ability to relate well to others, she has been an amazing addition to the CPY family.
