The Junior League of Monterey County

Mission

The Junior League of Monterey County, Inc., is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.

The Big Idea

Through hands-on training & formal learning opportunities, we give women the skills they need to become civic leaders and make sustainable improvements in our community.

Junior League of Monterey County (JLMC) trained volunteers can be found at every level of volunteer work throughout Monterey County, building school gardens, pushing for legislation, & serving on nonprofit boards. Training volunteers to be effective is one of the things we do best. We would like to dedicate financial resources to engage high quality talented leadership experts that understand the Junior League model and help us grow our small league and train our members to be even better leaders. This training will motivate all members and create a more enthusiastic and engaged membership. We are focused on the member and their growth and empowerment. When a greater number of members are developed as strong civic leaders our organization benefits and ultimately our greater community will benefit as well.

The Junior League of Monterey County is fortunate to have a passionate and diverse membership of women and we are proud to be part of their development in becoming leaders, visionaries and change agents of tomorrow. Our members continue to implement their JLMC leadership training by serving on numerous community nonprofit boards as well as leading businesses, nonprofits and civic organizations. The leadership training I received in the Junior League of Monterey County has provided me the confidence to be a civic leader and a safe space to learn skills that make me an effective President. In Monterey County, if you want to be an empowered volunteer and make an impact in our community, I highly encourage you to become a member of the Junior League of Monterey County. JLMC membership has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.
