The Marina Foundation

Mission

The mission of The Marina Foundation is to give scholarships and/or grants to deserving Marina residents, to support educational programs that benefit Marina students, and to support financially those organizations and events that benefit the community.

The Big Idea

Providing funds to support nutritional programs that benefit the health and well being of Marina’s teens and youth year-round, and to include before and after school, and during breaks and holidays.

The Marina Nutritional Support Program is located at both the Marina Teen Center and the Marina Community Center. The Program began in 2011 to support teens at the Marina Teen Center and was expanded in 2014 to include youth at the Marina Community Center. The program now aligns with current Center hours at both locations, and is available not only while school is in session, but also during breaks, weekends, and holidays. This expansion has allowed more teens and youth at the highest risk of not getting an additional evening meal to take part in this program and to receive nutritional snacks/meals in a safe and healthy environment year-round.

All funding for food and supplies during breaks, weekends and holidays is now provided by critical donors and is important to the well-being of all teens and youth at each venue. With continued funding, the nutrition program can help to provide nutritional food support to the economically disadvantaged teen and youth population in Marina, and to keep both groups on a healthy and safe path to maturity, thereby minimizing negative behaviors.

The Marina Foundation has been instrumental in supporting the health, education, and welfare of Marina’s residents through its many projects and programs.
