The Big Idea

Please see our Big Idea response below.

How does your organization benefit Monterey County?

Monterey County’s current homeless report reveals a 16% increase in persons experiencing homelessness in 2024 over 2022, although the percentage of homeless persons decreased statewide. The county-wide burden of homelessness includes increased demands on social services, education, public safety, and health care systems, straining resources and increasing costs of living. The end result is lower quality of life and safety for unsheltered people, and for all, broader financial losses to the local economy.
Individual case management has been shown to be fairly effective in addressing this difficult challenge and therefore, California now reimburses community-based organizations for individual case management to guide willing participants through mental health, medical, social services, employment and job training supports. While time intensive, the use of clinicians, counselors, and addiction responders, coordinated by Victory Mission’s trained and certified case managers and peer supporters promises to be an effective, self-sustaining solution to the challenges of homelessness.

Victory Mission’s slogan is Saving Lives Since 1959, which I know is true, because they helped me save my life, gain employment, and make healthy, productive choices.
