VNA Community Services promotes wellness in our community with a focus on prevention and wellness education. VNA is dedicated to providing the highest quality health care to residents of the Central Coast by meeting their individual needs in a caring, effective, honorable, and accessible manner.
A roadmap to better population health management happens through improved adult immunization rates, one of the greatest public health achievements in history. Every year in Monterey County, there are hundreds of outpatient illnesses related to vaccine-preventable disease. Yet many segments of our population do not have access to immunizations due to immobility and/or lack of health care coverage. VNA provides vaccinations to those unable to access them, enhancing the health of the community and reducing unnecessary illnesses and hospitalizations related to lack of vaccination. The goal is to make the community healthier and reduce the number of hospitalizations by helping foster a higher vaccination rate.
The Monterey County Health Department has collaborated with the VNA for over 10 years to provide no-cost immunization services to un- and under-insured residents of Monterey County. Immunizations have a significant impact on the health and well-being of communities. Increasing vaccination coverage for adults with barriers to accessing preventive services like immunizations protects all Monterey County residents. Quality assurance is very important for vaccine delivery, and the VNA provides rigorous training for staff and strict oversight of their immunization program. They have the technical expertise and experience to provide immunizations safely and efficiently in the community setting.
