RotaCare Monterey Clinic

Mission

To provide free medical care in the Bay Area for those who have the greatest need and the least access.

The Big Idea

The majority of RotaCare Monterey’s patients represent our community’s vital blue-collar workforce who cannot afford or do not receive employer-sponsored healthcare, are ineligible for MediCal or Medicare, and lack financial resources for self-pay care. This patient population is vulnerable to disparities in health care and often delay seeking medical attention until an emergency arises. Without the benefit of sick days, missing work due to illness means a loss of income or potential termination of employment. Our one paid position is a half-time Clinic Operations Manager and registered nurse who currently manages all of the clinic’s administrative duties e.g. patient follow-up, overseeing/recruiting our dedicated volunteers, fundraising, ordering supplies, and implementing a new electronic medical record. Funds raised could enable us to hire part-time staff to assist with clinic operations, IT support, grant writing, and a social worker to improve continuity of care and case management. This additional staff will support our goals to ensure our clinic continues providing high-quality health care for a patient population whose numbers far exceed our capacity.

"To me, RotaCare is very important. I've gotten an immense amount of help. It's great to know that not only have I been helped but others in the community. The personnel is very kind and helpful. I'm very thankful for this program, their time, the effort and the help. Ever grateful."
