“RotaCare is a volunteer-driven and patient-centered provider of free health care for the uninsured and underserved in our community.”
RotaCare Monterey Clinic is a volunteer-driven provider of free healthcare services to uninsured residents of Monterey County. Our patients are vital members of the community and local workforce who are vulnerable to healthcare disparities because they do not receive employer-sponsored health benefits and are ineligible for government-sponsored insurance. Our outstanding team of volunteers includes licensed medical providers (doctors, nurse practitioners and physician assistants), nurses, physical therapists, dietitians, clerical staff, Spanish interpreters, a clinical pharmacist, and a stress counselor. Patients with urgent and chronic conditions (e.g. diabetes, hypertension, and kidney disease) receive free telehealth and in-person visits, diagnostic testing through the generous support of Community Hospital of Monterey Peninsula, as well as medication management, diabetic supplies and monitoring, blood pressure monitors, weight scales, pedometers, physical therapy, nutrition education, and specialty referrals, all at no cost. Our goal is to prevent hardship and improve lives through equitable access to high-quality healthcare.
I learned about RotaCare when I had to go to the hospital, Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula when I wasn’t feeling well. I was diagnosed in 2018 with Type 2 diabetes and was referred to RotaCare because I did not have insurance. For the past six years, RotaCare has been great to me and has provided me with the necessary care. The medical team has been great in helping me control my diabetes. I am able to check my blood sugar regularly. I am able to have regular visits, labs, medications and diabetic supplies that I need. Anytime that I call the clinic Claudia is very nice and attentive. I am very thankful for RotaCare and hope that they continue to help people like me. Thanks to them I feel really good.
