Our mission is to serve as a multi-purpose gathering place that enriches, educates, and entertains by presenting artistic and educational programs, and by hosting public and private events.
The Big Idea
Sunset Cultural Center provides unique arts education programs that are effective, inclusive and integrated into school culture as a method for improving learning and engagement. This year they are offering their new virtual program, Social-Emotional Arts in Learning (SEAL), in addition to their established programs, Kennedy Center Partners in Education and Turnaround Arts. SEAL
promotes self-esteem by inviting students to virtually experience the arts in their home environment. The program features expressive art lesson plans with accompanying supplemental worksheets that assist in strengthening healthy perspectives about
life, even under challenging circumstances. Even while Sunset Center’s stage is quiet due to the pandemic, the staff continues engaging children in a love of the arts.
It’s been life-changing for our community and our kids and our teachers. The arts are not readily available to the community and our students. It has changed what’s happening not just in the classroom but outside the classroom. Our commu-
nity and parents are engaged in what’s happening with their kids. They love the arts. It is amazing to see.
